New Plans, Credits, and On-Demand UsageMarch 1, 2026 • Magic Patterns Team
This post was first shared with all existing customers via email on March 2nd, 2026.
On March 20th, we're introducing a new credit system, on-demand usage with pay-as-you-go billing, and restructured pricing plans.
For existing customers, you'll be automatically upgraded to a new plan at no
additional cost on March 20th. Your current pricing will be honored through
June 30th, 2026 or until your next renewal if you're on an annual plan.
New Credit System
We're moving from a flat "one prompt, one credit" model to usage-based credits that scale with the complexity of each request. We've heard your feedback: it's not fair to be charged the same for "change this color" and "build me a full prototype with 10 pages."
For existing customers, your existing credit balance will be multiplied by 10x — i.e., 100 credits will now appear as 1,000 credits.
If you use other AI tools, like Cursor, you've probably seen this shift already. Usage-based credits have become the standard across the industry.
We're making usage incredibly transparent. Like today, you'll continue to be able to track your credit balance and usage from the settings dashboard.
Actions that did not require credits previously are staying the same. No credits are needed for "Fix with AI," visual edits, and retries.
On-Demand Usage
Previously, hitting your credit limit meant you had to literally switch plans. Starting March 20, any paid plan can enable on-demand usage with pay-as-you-go billing. Any usage beyond your monthly credit limit will be billed at a fixed per-credit rate — no plan upgrades required. You can additionally set up budget limits and alert thresholds to make sure you stay within your budget.
Plans Built Around Features
Every day, we're seeing more product teams replace their legacy workflows with Magic Patterns to become truly AI-native, leveraging features like Agent mode, design systems, connectors, visual editing, and more. This new credit system unlocks a lot of new capabilities.
Starting on March 20, we'll have a set of new tiers defined by features and capabilities, not credit limits.

FAQ
What is the value of a credit in the new system?
For existing customers, your existing credit balance will be multiplied by 10x — i.e., 100 credits will now appear as 1,000 credits. Credits now scale with the complexity of each request — "change this color" is less credits than "build me a full prototype with 10 pages."
When does my price change?
Monthly subscribers keep their current price ($19 or $75) until June 30, 2026. Giving you time to decide whether to stay, switch plans, or cancel. After June 30, pricing moves to the new standard at your next billing cycle. For Hobby users, that's just $1 more ($19 → $20). Annual subscribers keep their current price through the end of their billing cycle and renew at the new annual rate. You are free to cancel or change plans at any time.
I appear to be only gaining features. Is that correct?
Yes! Every feature available on your current plan will continue to be available on your new plan. You'll also gain access to new capabilities like on-demand usage with pay-as-you-go billing and budget controls.
How does On-Demand Usage work after the transition?
On-demand usage with pay-as-you-go billing is opt-in. After March 20, you can enable it from your workspace billing settings. Any usage beyond your monthly credit allowance will be billed at a fixed per-credit rate. You can set budget limits and alert thresholds so you're always in control.
I'm on an Enterprise plan. Do I need to do anything?
There is no action required. Enterprise organizations on custom plans can always reach out to their account manager or dedicated support team. You can always schedule time here.
